John Montague, Fourth Earl of Sandwich, suppossedly invented the sandwich, in 1762, as a convenient method of eating during a lengthy gambling session. Sandwich day is on his birth anniversary, November 3rd, to recognize his culinary contribution.
Today is also Cliché Day. In Japan, it's Culture Day, a national holiday. November 3rd is Panama's Independence Day. On this day in 1969, the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) was born.
