Yorktown Day 2010

On October 19, 1781, more than 7,000 English and Hessian troops, led by British general Lord Cornwallis, surrendered to General George Washington at Yorktown, VA, effectively ending the war between Britain and its American colonies. Today, people gather to celebrate the anniversary of this victory that assured American independence.

"Happy Days" dad Tom Bosley died at age 83. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell back below 11,000 today after losing a substantial 165.07. The NFL docked Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison $75,000, New England Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather $50,000, and Atlanta Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson $50,000 for their violent hits from games on Sunday. Someone fired shots at the Pentagon this morning, hitting the building and causing minor damage. The Giants took a 2-1 lead in the NL Championship Series this afternoon with a 3-0 win over the Phillies.
