In 2002, the tradition of honoring mothers-in-law on the fourth Sunday in October was started. According to a recent iVillage poll, however, 51 percent of respondents would would rather clean the house than spend the day with their mother-in-law.
October 24th is also United Nations Day. The UN was founded 65 years ago on this date. According to the UN, today is also World Development Information Day. In addition, the anniversary of the stock market crash of 1929 (Black Thursday) is today.
