iPod Day 2010

Today is the 296th day of the year. There are 69 days remaining until the end of the year (63 days till Christmas). If your birthday is today, you are a Scorpio.

The Apple iPod is 9 years old today - Happy Birthday! Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, introduced the first Apple iPod, on this date in 2001, with the tagline: “1,000 songs in your pocket.” The one-and-only 5GB model cost $399. It was hard-drive based and FireWire only (a Mac-only device).

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of community service, held annually on the fourth Saturday in October. For the geeks out there, Mole Day commemorates Avogadro's Number (6.02 x 10^23), which is a basic measuring unit in chemistry. One mole of a given molecule weighs a mass (in grams) whose number is equal to the atomic mass for that molecule. Also, it caught my eye, that the fourth Saturday in October is the Hogeye festival in Elgin, TX. The events include a Road Hog Car Show, a barbecue pork cook-off, the crowning of King Hog or Queen Sowpreme, and Cow Patty Bingo.
